This picturesque village, with its wide tree-lined green, offers so much for everybody and is ideal for families. Here you can get away from it all and enjoy the countryside, while still being at the heart of a community and close to good transport links. The name Hutton Rudby reflects the historical merger of two settlements, Hutton and Rudby, which eventually combined as they grew together across the River Leven.

  • Highlights: St Mary’s Church – a medieval parish church featuring Gothic architecture, and the 1755-built Hutton Bridge spanning the River Leven.

Enjoy peaceful and scenic walks along the banks of the river and across open countryside, where there are also bridle paths and stunning views of the Cleveland Hills. A walk around the village is also lovely.

  • Cafés, Pubs and Eateries: The Wheatsheaf Inn – a traditional pub serving local ales and homemade food; The Kings Head – a welcoming pub offering pizza nights and craft beers. Both are dog-friendly. The Hub Coffee Shop in the Methodist Chapel provides quizzes, children’s activities and stories for little ones.
  • Shopping & Amenities: : Spar convenience store stocks a wide range of essentials and has parking, a post office and petrol station. The village also has a doctors’ surgery, where you can collect repeat prescriptions, a hairdressers’ and a beauty salon.
  • Community Events: These are at the heart of Hutton Rudby and include annual music events, a firework display and a summer fete, held on the village green.

The Village Hall hosts various clubs and events including Bridge, fitness, yoga, dancing, Pilates, pre-school music and toddler groups. Available for hire, this well-equipped hall has several rooms (one with a stage) and even a grand piano. Hutton Rudby Arts organises quality events here, from live concerts to drama.

Activities: For sports enthusiasts there are badminton, tennis, cricket, bowls and fly fishing clubs along with a football pitch and small bike track. There is also a dramatic society and history society.

  • Education: Hutton Rudby Primary School – a small, well regarded primary school and nursery, offers early years’ education. In addition, there is a secondary and sixth form school in Stokesley and a co-educational private day school in Yarm.
  • Transport Links: Regular bus services to Stokesley and Northallerton. The village’s proximately to the A19 provides convenient road access to larger towns, such as Northallerton and Darlington, with their superb rail services to Edinburgh, Newcastle, York and London Kings Cross.
